About Me

In order to feel proud of what you wear you must first know where it came from, here at Monkeychoo all the items are created using as many recycled items as possible, in such a fast paced world where we can have what we want, when we want, we believe that we need to start thinking ethically and source materials from alternative suppliers. Technologically we have advanced so quickly we have lost our connection with nature and are quickly absorbing all of its assets, and so we find it vitally important to restore that link and show that in doing so we can create Beautiful authentic designs with integrity. All our designs are one off, hand sewn and made from beginning to end by the designer. We want our clientele to have a truly unique and exclusive item that they can feel dignified and rewarded wearing.

A look at Accessories.

Recycled accessories...

This month I'm taking a look at accessories, particularly recycled, I really liked the deconstruction part of my college assignment and so I wanted to have a look and see what I could find that would fit nicely with my designs.

I found this amazing Steampunk clutch purse, by Old Junk yard Boutique, it's created from reclaimed materials and is a very striking and highly desirable item. I really like the use of household objects to create a Zeppelin style looking bag, this fits in really well with my designs and brand ethos.

This was found on Trendhunter click here to see the blog.

Jewellery.

I found this fantastic recycled jewellery range by Miae Kim, these pieces are part of her one off collection, "Antique Steampunk jewellery" They can be found here on Etsy. Check out this website for the full blog and other super cool Eco friendly items.

Each of these pieces would work beautifully with my garment, very happy to have found these to share with you.

I will certainly keep my eyes and ears open for more work from this hard to find designer Miae Kim.

Transformation Steam Circus!

For the weird, wonderful and daring nature in us all!

Bringing the Future and the past together here I have tried to create a recycled/up cycled unique hand sewn two part outfit, keeping in theme with the steampunk genre I started to look at fabrics that could be sourced locally and cheaply that would lend themselves well to an area of fashion that although follows a strong trend is able to break the rules and be innovative, I found after a lot of exploration with CAD design that denim jeans are a fabulously versatile material.
